Sound Recordist

ABOUT US

We are a film and media production company specialising in feature films, short films, and web series. With a complete web series and a feature film in development, we are expanding our on-set production team and seeking a skilled Sound Recordist to help capture high-quality production audio across multiple upcoming projects.

ROLE OVERVIEW 

This is a project-based position. The Sound Recordist will work directly with the director, producers, and cinematography team to record clean, consistent, and professional audio on set. You must have strong technical ability, on-set awareness, and experience working on narrative film or episodic productions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Record high-quality sync sound during filming for the web series and feature film
• Capture clean dialogue, ambient sound, and necessary wild tracks
• Operate boom microphones, wireless systems, mixers, and recorders
• Manage and troubleshoot all on-set audio equipment
• Coordinate with the director and camera department to optimise mic placement
• Identify and resolve unwanted noise, interference, or location challenges
• Maintain accurate sound logs and file management for post-production
• Provide technical guidance on set regarding sound requirements
• Remain attentive to continuity and scene-specific audio conditions

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Proven experience as a Sound Recordist on films or episodic content
• Strong understanding of audio equipment (mixers, recorders, wireless lavs, boom mics)
• Ability to operate boom and manage multiple microphone setups
• Knowledge of production sound workflow and file organisation
• Ability to identify acoustic issues and propose quick solutions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work under tight schedules and varied locations
• Understanding of basic post-production audio needs (sync, formats, file delivery)

BONUS SKILLS (ADVANTAGEOUS)

• Experience working on thriller, drama, or cinematic productions
• Familiarity with timecode, slating, and multi-cam setups
• Experience capturing Foley, wild tracks, or room tone at a higher professional level
• Ownership of personal sound kit (optional, not required)
